Who saved who?

I swear, I could fill a pillow with the hair shedding off this dog!  This dog, this smelly, hairy, amazing, intuitive, nearly perfect dog! Whenever I freak out about all the hair, I look at his sweet face and know that he is the best thing we have done as a family in a long time.
Last September, we decided it was time to take the plunge and get a dog. We visited several shelters and viewed the online websites of shelters and rescues for months, looking for the perfect dog... the right fit. My husband found a skinny, stray, black Lab that the Washington County Humane Society had named "Sir Lancelot".
I have to give a shout out to those folks. They really do their homework on the animals, running them through a series of "tests" so that they can tell you any quirks the animal might have. After walking him and talking with the staff, we all decided he was "the one". Well, my husband and son decided, I was still not completely convinced but, if they liked him, then I was good with it. I was honestly thinking to myself, I could live without a dog for the rest of my life because I'm the one who's going to feed him and walk him and clean up his messes and figure out who he stays with when we go away and worry about staying somewhere too long because I have to go home and let the dog out.
Well, can I tell you.... I'm in love. We renamed him Boomer and he has been a friend to everyone in the family. He wakes my son in the morning, giving him a tongue bath on his face, the only thing peeking from underneath the covers. He calms my husband, who comes home stressed from work to an excited welcoming, tail wagging, hand licking friend. And the two of them proceed to tug on either side of a frisbee until one wins and my husbands stresses are forgotten. I will frequently find Boomer lounged out next to one of them on the couch or laying on their feet under the table.
He keeps me company, has given me unconditional love, gets me walking in the morning and makes me laugh.

Sleeping in.

There's always room for one more on the couch.

Fighting for the frisbee.
BFFs

What a pretty boy!
All those little inconveniences don't mean a thing compared to the friendship and joy he has brought to our lives. We saved him but he saved us as well.
I'm giving him a scratch right now.... oh, man, will you look at all this hair on the floor!!!

Life is Good!

Nanna, nanna, nanna, today is my birthday! (imagine music here) and I'm feeling very grateful.
Grateful for friends, family, health and home.I have so many blessings, most I realize and some I probably don't. So on my birthday, I'm going to appreciate the people around me and the beauty in the world. I appreciate that I'm here for a new year ahead and so many adventures to share.

Sofa Sessions.... Finally!!!!

After two rain outs, countless checks of the weather radar and many emails to reschedule, after getting the truck which delivered the sofa stuck in a ditch and pulled out by a tractor, Sunday finally proved to be the perfect day for the sofa sessions! Families came out ready for the casual summer like feel to the photos.

We had a lot of fun getting creative with our posing and getting on and off the couch. Hey, does anyone know the difference between a sofa and a couch? I'm not even sure what style sofa/couch this is? Anyway, we had fun!
A big thank you goes out to Kim and Larry, who donated their couch to the cause. It was perfect.
And to Julie, who helped get the couch, kept it in her truck for the weeks of rain outs, delivered it to the field and got her truck stuck in the process. I couldn't have done this without any of these friends.  Thanks!
And to Mr. Foltz who let me use his beautiful property for the photos. Maybe next year we'll be there when the field is in full bloom.

I photographed Cindy and Josh's wedding and now, the new addition to their family, "Oliver".

"Oliver's" first professional photo session. Is he cute or what?

I love all the bare feet! They couldn't have been more relaxed or cute.

The expressions on the kids faces as they were asked to jump on the couch instead of not to, were priceless.

This was so sweet, a mother and daughter photo as a  mother's day gift. How precious will these be some day?

A beautiful family!

First met this little man on a preschool photo shoot and have enjoyed photographing him, and now his family , ever since.

Some good photos off of the couch of a great family! They have "the walk" perfected. I ask them to do it at every session we've had.

Letting the kids try for a hand stand, which is simply impossible and simply hysterical to watch. Boy, did they laugh!

Our friends, Julie and her family. Thanks again!!

The Wedding of Kat and Russell

Kat and Russell on their carriage ride following the ceremony at Stone Manor Estate in Middletown.
Kat and Russell had a gorgeous spring wedding at Stone Manor Estate in Middletown in April. By the time the wedding arrived, I felt like I really knew them after talking about the Hokies and Blacksburg almost as much as we talked about their wedding at our first meeting. And then photographing their engagement session, working with them on creating their guest book and save the date cards and finally, The Big Day! Kat would email and check with me about all the details, apologizing for being what she thought was overly organized but all the little details added up to one big beautiful day.

Thank you so much Kat and Russell for inviting me to be part of your day. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.
Only a spring wedding could produce this beautiful landscape for a photo.

I love a good laugh! Kat's sisters give a toast.

A beautiful sunset at Stone Manor Estate in Middletown.

A candid moment on the dance floor.

Every moment of the wedding day provides photo opportunities... almost midnight.
I have to give a shout out to all the vendors that put their special touches on Kat and Russell's wedding that made it so amazing.

All that's missing is you!

The only thing missing in this beautiful scene is your family as Kelly Hahn Photography presents
"Sofa Sessions in Sharpsburg"

"Sofa Sessions in Sharpsburg" gives you twenty minutes “on the couch” (we're literally placing a couch in the middle of this field) and an 8x10 photo to capture your family in a farm field exploding with Spring. This fun, informal mini session is offered at the value price of $50 and includes an 8x10 photo. If you’re up for a unique image of your family, children or friends, contact Kelly to book your appointment on May 15th with sessions running from 3-7pm.
