The wedding of Jeff and Christine

The thing that I loved about photographing Jeff and Christine's wedding was the amazing settings we were able to photograph them in and their fun spirit as they posed in those settings.
There was a lot of talent displayed in singing and dancing at the ceremony and beyond. And I don't think I have seen a couple or their guests enjoy a reception more. Christine was truly the star of the show as she belted out "Sweet Caroline" to the music of the band and the cheering of her new husband and guests!
Thank you Christine and Jeff for inviting me to capture this truly joyous day!

Pictures in the Pines 2010

I just had my first of two special holiday photo sessions this past weekend at South Mountain Plantation Christmas tree farm in Boonsboro. We had fantastic weather and the farm's location couldn't be more beautiful! All the families were great to work with and we created some unique images for their holiday gifts and cards. Thank you to all the families for coming!

Here is the link for the Plantation when you're looking to purchase your Christmas tree, wreath, roping or holiday gift from their shop. The Cline family are very welcoming and fun!

I still have one more session to be held at ThorpeWood near Thurmont on December 5th and have time slots available . Another beautiful spot, but this time inside, in front of the fireplace, next to a 17-foot Christmas tree. Santa is even showing up for a few hours in the morning! Looking forward to it. I've been nice! :)

Loretta and her loveable Labradors

A beautiful fall day, three energetic and much-loved Labs with their owner Loretta made for a fun photo session! I enjoyed capturing them romping and playing and just being themselves as well as a few "posed" photos which took some patience and a lot of treats! Thanks to Loretta and her "children" for a great afternoon.

The wedding of Karen and Ken

A beautiful day and venue for the wedding of Ken and Karen at Hauser Estates Winery. Their ceremony was just before sunset and you couldn't have asked for more beautiful settings and people! We took advantage of the fading light to create some images that really sparkled with the warm sunset. We had so much fun at their engagement session, I knew that we would be able to make some unique and memorable images at their wedding, even as we got creative in the semi-darkness. Their ceremony, held just at sunset was on the top of the hill overlooking the crimson colored valley...breathtaking! And the two of them so enjoyed their wedding reception and their guests, dancing and laughing the night away. Thank you Karen and Kevin for making me a part of your amazing day.

The e-session of Kat and Russ

Now that we're having a chill in the air, it's kinda nice to look back on an e-session on the creek with Katherine and Russell. I took them to one of the favorite spots for my family to hang out on a hot summer day and we had fun posing and playing by the water! Thanks to you both!

The wedding of Jess and Ryan

Ryan and Jess are a couple I will always remember. We met and decided to work together nearly two years before their wedding. They were the first and only couple to meet me at 8 in the morning for their engagement session photos, dogs in tow and smiles on their faces. And they truly honored me with playing their engagement video slideshow on a large screen and dancing to it's music for their first dance as husband and wife at their wedding. I was so, so amazed and touched by this! Still get a little tear in my eye!

Their wedding at the Purple Iris in Martinsburg, West Virginia was the perfect day. The weather was spectacular and the venue was gorgeous. Ryan and Jess couldn't have looked more amazing. We captured their photos as a couple before the ceremony during a "reveal" which gave us time to take advantage of the real character of the grounds and the house. And the wedding ceremony was touching and hilarious at different times. Hilarious when Ryan and the entire bridal party performed an elaborate dance number following the ceremony.
I love this moment before the ceremony with just the two of them! How relaxed and happy they are in each others arms.

Happy is my favorite emotion to photograph and we had a lot of that at this wedding. :)

My good friend and great photographer Joe Crocetta, who worked with  me all day,  captured this radical robot move by Ryan at the beginning of his dance routine down the aisle. Too much fun! Thanks Joe for all your great images and ideas.

I really loved the lanterns and elaborately elegant archway gracing the wedding area but it was too sunny to capture the mood of it all immediately following the ceremony. So Joe, Colleen, my assistant and the happily married if a bit exhausted couple agreed to walk back there in the pitch dark to create this unique image.
End of the night and a fabulous day. Congratulations Ryan and Jess and thanks! If you want to see more, view the slideshow below.

Kenneth and Karen

Kenneth and Karen wanted their engagement session in Frederick where they had spent some time while dating. We had a beautiful day and took advantage of the unique character of the Frederick city area. They were great sports and tried all playful poses I asked them to try and their fun nature showed through in the photos. Thanks Ken and Karen for a wonderful day!

Josh and Cindy's wedding!

I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Cindy and Josh's wedding at Stone Manor in Middletown and could not have had a more perfect day. The weather was amazing. It was the first time I had photographed at Stone Manor and I was so impressed by the beauty of the venue and the professionalism of the team there. We had a fun time and captured some beautiful photos. I have more to come, but I wanted to post this particular image because I thought it was so amazing. We rushed to the meet the sunset with only seconds to shoot. With the help of my assistant, Colleen  and maid of honor, Eliza to fluff the veil, Josh and Cindy created this magical moment in the fading light. It's going to be one of my all time favorites! So this is just a sneak peek. A video slideshow of their highlights is in the works. Thanks for inviting me to capture your day!

Cindy and Josh's engagement session

Cindy and Josh's e-session was in Shepherdstown. What I loved about the engagement shoot was that they showed me some places I had never seen there! I always love exploring new places, especially those places that are important to the couple. We photographed on the trails and in the streets where they dated. It was a hot day, again!, but we managed to have a lot of fun together creating the scenes and the moods that made for amazing photos.
Thank you Josh and Cindy!

Welcome to Caroline!

It all started with Betsy and Rob.
They were the first couple that I began this blog with two years ago. They were the couple that graciously had their engagement session videoed so that I could post it on my website where it still remains. I was so honored that they contacted me about photographing the new addition their family, Caroline. It really makes me happy to continue to follow their lives as they change in new and wonderful ways.

When I became a photojournalist, in my 20's, it was because I wanted to tell stories, in images, that mattered to people and that made a difference. The subjects were different then, but my goal is still the same, to capture important images, that have meaning. Images that reflect relationships and a moment in time, though fleeting. With one glance at these images, they will recall the magic, the love they felt for each other and this time in their lives. And hopefully, one day, they will be cherished by Caroline, who will not keep these days in her memory but in her heart.

Thank you so much for allowing me the privilege to see your lives together begin anew in the blessing of your baby.

The wedding of Heather and Michael

Heather and Michael had a gorgeous day for their wedding in May. I had photographed their engagement session nearly a year before and was so happy to see this day arrive. Their enthusiasm for sports, which we highlighted in their e-session, was sprinkled throughout the day with everything from Hokie cuff links, garter and socks, to game tickets decorating the tables. They stayed true to their relaxed and fun nature, showing a sweet goofy side as well as their obvious love for each other. It was a fantastic day all around. Thanks Heather and Michael for sharing your incredible day with me!

Rock the Frock

Had the best time with Kirsten, photographing all her many looks, fun and fabulous, with a carload of prom dresses, the assistance of her mom and a lot of high energy at Cunningham Falls State Park.
I've been wanting to offer a special "Rock the Frock" session for girls, who may only wear their prom dress once, to take it out on location and really highlight the dress and the beauty and spirit of the girl in it. Kirsten was the perfect start! She had a sense of adventure, so she was up for anything, including crawling around on rocks and tree stumps and running through the water. She had a real flair for posing, saying it was from watching all those Top Model shows. And I think we captured the beauty she has without and within. Thanks Kirsten!

The wedding of Stephanie and Chuck

Stephanie and Chuck's wedding was on a typical spring day, threatening rain, then raining, and then, blessedly, a break in the showers. But the people, they were anything but typical. Stephanie mentioned that she and Chuck had a really fun group and we should make the most of that photographically. What I didn't know is that included everyone from the bridal party, relatives and friends to the two sets of grandparents that danced like teenagers and stayed for the entire wedding.
We had a mixture of exuberance, deep love and respect and downright silliness that carried through the day.
My favorite images are those that capture the uncontainable joy and great sense of humor that permeated everything and everyone. There was never a lack of smiles or laughter. They say that a good sense of humor is what can get you through the rough times. If that's the case, Stephanie and Chuck have a long and happy life ahead of them.
Congratulations and thank you so much for including me in your day! What a privilege.
